She is also the youngest person to receive this award.

The US embassy in Nepal said the award was given for his work towards ending the acid attack.

The award will be presented to Khatun on March 8 by US First Lady Jill Biden and Secretary of State Tony Blinken in a virtual event.

IWOC honors women around the world who have shown extraordinary courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women's empowerment at great personal risk and sacrifice.

Among its previous winners is Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel laureate to represent Pakistan for women and adolescents.

Muskan transformed a tragic event into an opportunity to bring change to Nepal. Faced with threats and social pressure, Muskan called for tougher laws and punishments against acid attacks.

She also met with Prime Minister KP Oli, who called for a new law on acid attacks and an ordinance punishing criminals and regulating the sale of chemicals.

The IWOC considers Muskan's leadership to be important in bringing about this change.

He was attacked with acid in Birgunj for rejecting a love proposal. His face, chest and hands were badly injured. That moment of his recovery was painful and cosidering.
